This past weekend eight families gathered for the first annual family camping trip at Braeburn Lake. We had two days of fun as we played, prayed and ate together! We felt God’s blessings in gathering together, even amidst a sudden hail storm during our prayer time! Have you ever frolicked in a hail storm? Well, many of our children did just that! We were blessed to have Father Slawek and Mauricio, the seminarian, present to lead Mass and our prayer times. We canoed, swam, made crafts to celebrate the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, sang and performed skits around the campfire, had a scavenger hunt where the older children led their team of little ones and finally just really enjoyed all being together, celebrating life and our faith. A huge thank-you to Stella Martin, who was the main organizer, especially when it came to the food at camp and everything camp related! And a thank you to Father Slawek for being the one to get the ball rolling to even have a camp! Please stay turned for future dates of family camping trips at Braeburn. It would be awesome to have even more families next time, on first weekend of September 2018. - Denise Grimard
Last weekend 8 families gathered together at Braeburn Summer Camp on the feast of the Sacred Heart for a wonderful weekend of recreation and fellowship. Stella Mooney, long time parishioner and camp director for almost 40 years, blessed us by organizing and coordinating the weekend, cooking all the meals and facilitating recreation and campfire sessions for the 19 adults and 28 children who participated. Over the weekend families canoed, hiked, swam, crafted and prayed together under miraculously sunny skies. Despite a dismal forecast, the only rain to fall was for 5 minutes during communion at the outdoor Mass held on Saturday evening, celebrated by Fr.Szwagrzyk. It was a beautiful and blessed weekend and we are excited to make it an annual tradition! Thank you to all who participated this year and we hope more will join us next year. - Claire Caudle
