The Purpose: The Traveling Chalice Program invites families to pray together for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life. The blessed chalice serves as a visible reminder of this special intention, reflecting the Second Vatican Council’s call for the laity to support vocations through prayer. How It Works: The chalice, blessed by Bishop Hector Vila, will begin its journey on June 1. Each evening, a new family (or individual) will host it in a place of honour in their home, using the provided binder of prayers. The chalice will be passed from one household to the next. The funeral of Rosemary Burns will take place on May 10th at 12pm in St. Francis of Assisi High school.

Fr. Jim was born in Vancouver, but his family moved to Whitehorse in the 1950s. He was ordained as a priest in Sacred Heart Cathedral in September 1973 by Bishop Hubert O’Connor. Fr. Jim served as the rector of Sacred Heart Cathedral from 1998 to 2013 and was also stationed in Watson Lake. His Funeral will take place on Monday, April 14th at 10am. In the time of Lent we ponder our sins and express to God our profound repentance of the wrong we have done. God desires to forgive us, and to reconcile ourselves to Him and His Church. We are inviting everyone to Penitential service Friday 11th at 7pm-9pm when we will have number of priests available for confessions; it is a blessed time and great chance to make peace with God!
