Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
This beautiful program, for children ages 3 to 12, fosters children’s personal relationship with God. We have had this program in our parish since 2017. We currently offer level one, which is for the 3 to 5 year old child. We would like to grow our program but we need trained catechists. We are hoping to offer training here in Whitehorse. Please look at the display in the entrance of the church which shows pictures from our special space, our atrium. Also, explore the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Association of Canada (www.cgsac.ca) and the United States Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (www.cgsusa.org) websites. If you are interested in participating in the training or would like further information, please email catechesis@sacredheartcathedral.ca ![]() Knights of Columbus will be holding their annual yard sale on Saturday, June 4th from 8am-12pm at the Sacred Heart Cathedral parking lot. For more info call Erwin at (876) 335-2480 or Dominic at (867) 689-0394".
![]() We are pleased to announce that from July 1st to July 14th, 2022, we will be welcoming about fifteen volunteers from Toronto who will be traveling to our diocese to do renovation work at St. Mary’s Parish in Dawson City, Yukon.
They will be working with local volunteers to do improvements on both the rectory and the church. We are most grateful to God for this help which will make our buildings more energy efficient and comfortable for people. In order to provide nourishing meals for these volunteers, we are accepting donations of meat to help reduce the grocery bill. If you are able to help in this way, please contact the chancery at 867-667-2052 or executiveassistant@whitehorsediocese.ca by June 29th, 2022. If you prefer to contribute financially, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Parish (tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more). Many thanks. And we invite anyone traveling to Dawson City this summer to visit St. Mary’s Parish to see the progress of the project. ![]() WORLD COMMUNICATION DAY- MAY 29 Today Catholics are invited to reflect upon the media of social communication (films, radio, television, newspapers, audiovisuals) and how these influence our lives. The media can promote values that lead to a more fully human society. The Church’s ministry is twofold. The media can be used to help promote the Gospel. At the same time, as receivers of the materials presented by the media, the faithful have a duty to support and promote worthwhile presentations on media and reject those, which promote value contrary to spiritual growth
![]() We are most grateful that the Holy Father has accepted the invitation from the Conference of Canadian Bishops (CCCB) to come to Canada so as to continue on the path of reconciliation and healing with Canadian Indigenous Peoples. In view of Pope Francis’ age and health condition, he will be focusing his visit on three Canadian locations: Edmonton, Alberta, Iqualuit, Nunavut and Québec City, Québec.
